Polished finish
Marble polishing is undoubtedly the most widespread form of marble finishes; it gives it the classic smooth, reflective look that most of us have in our minds, bringing out all its natural and colorful beauty. If you wonder how we achieve this, the answer is granulometry, the repeated rubbing of different grains on the surface of the marble, from the thickest to the finest, in order to achieve a smooth, polished appearance.

Matte or Satin – Honed finish
To achieve this finish, we use the same abrasives as in the polished finish, but in smaller amounts. In essence, it is a method similar to the previous one, but stops at an earlier stage, maintaining the original depth and color of the marble. It leaves a smooth, matte finish on the surface of the marble. Matte surfaces end up being smooth, with no glossy or reflective finish appearances. They seem to have a subtle satin finish and a slight sheen.

Antique or Brushed finish
This process is similar to the polishing process, with the difference that here we use brushes as a means of finishing. The surface of the marble slabs is rubbed on the abrasive machine, on which metal or synthetic brushes have been placed. During the rubbing process, the softest stone on the surface is removed, while at the same time, the solid stone of the slab “emerges”.

Sandblasted finish
Sand finishing, or sandblasting, is a finish known in many applications. In the case of marble, it is achieved by blasting particles of silicon or sand on the marble surface for the purpose of corrosion. We mainly use artificial means, in the same polishing machines, but with electrolyzed rollers. With this process, the material acquires a non-slip character with a slightly rough feel, but pleasant to the touch.

Bush Hammered finish
Here, the surface of the marble is finished in the polishing machines by a special tool with multiple pins, placed at equal distances, on wheels. This finish gives the marble surface a non-slip uniform appearance, as well as a lighter color shade, compared to the original material. This application is ideal for use in high traffic areas due to its non-slip nature.

Processing Methods of Marble Stone

CNC carving
It is a computer-controlled process using digital blueprints to carve intricate designs and patterns into the stone precisely. This method allows for exact replication of your desired format and is perfect for creating complex shapes.

CNC water-jet cutting
It uses a high-pressure stream of water to cut through the marble and create precise edges without heat or vibration. You can easily create complex shapes, inlays, and intricate marble fabrication with marble water jet cutting. This method is excellent for creating designs and patterns in your stone.

Handcraft work
Skilled artisans use their hands to detail, hone and polish the marble pieces. This process adds a unique character to each piece and is perfect for creating custom shapes.

Dry lay
This method involves arranging several smaller pieces of marble into larger stones or tiles. It’s commonly used when building staircases, patios, and walkways.

Water Jet Cutting
For complex shapes or intricate designs, water jet cutting is an excellent option. This method uses a high-pressure stream of water mixed with abrasive particles to cut through the marble with precision.

CNC Machining
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines can be used for highly accurate and repeatable cuts in marble slabs. This method is particularly useful for large-scale projects or when multiple identical pieces are required.

Applications of Marble Stone

FAQ

Q: How can you tell good quality marble?

A: Checking the Quality of Polish of the Slabs.
Checking thickness consistency in the granite/marble slabs.
Checking for cracks in the granite/marble slabs.
Matching granite/marble slabs with the samples submitted.
Custom Sizing of Granite/Marble slabs.

Q: What is the best grade of marble?

A: Marble is graded based on its quality, with higher grades having fewer imperfections like cracks or veins. Grade A marble is the highest quality and often more expensive, while Grade B and C may have more natural variations.

Q: Is marble worth the money?

A: Marble countertop maintenance is relatively simple and only requires regular cleaning and sealing. Marble countertops are a luxurious addition to any home. They add value and beauty to your kitchen or bathroom. While marble is a durable material, it does require some care to keep it looking its best.

Q: What does pure marble look like?

A: Purity, of course, refers to the lack of color variation within a specific sample of stone. Although colored veining is, for many people, a very desired characteristic, the purest marbles are almost completely white or very light in color.

Q: How to buff out marble?

A: Using a clean, soft cloth or a polishing pad, buff the marble surface in a circular motion. Apply gentle pressure and continue buffing until you achieve the desired shine. You may need to repeat the process for stubborn dull spots or scratches.

Q: What does baking soda do to marble?

A: And you shouldn't use this product to clean your marble every day. Equally, make sure the stuff doesn't remain on your stone's surface for more than a few seconds. Finally, even light abrasives like baking soda can damage stone surfaces. So if you use it too often, your marble could end up looking rather dull.
